Hey Oscar...

It's Oscar time! And as always, I am super excited! I love watching who wearing what, who shows up with whom, who's gonna win and rooting (and lamenting) for my favorite actors. This year, with help from my bro and prima, I was able to watch quite a few Oscar Nominees without even leaving my couch. Thanks, guys.

Therefore, in the spirit of Oscar season and with a bit of nostalgia for my hometown, I decided to make a few predictions of my own. I used this ballot I found on AOL.com to pick just a few of my favorite categories and the ones I know the best. I'm crossing my fingers...

Best Picture
'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'
'Frost/Nixon'
'Milk'
'The Reader'
'Slumdog Millionaire'
And the winner is...
This is really hard because I loved Ben Button, but Slumdog has fantastic momentum coming out of the Golden Globes. I think I have to go with 'Slumdog Millionaire.'

Best Director
Danny Boyle 'Slumdog Millionaire'
Stephen Daldry 'The Reader'
David Fincher 'The curious case of Benjamin Button'
Ron Howard 'Frost/Nixon'
Gus Van Sant "Milk'
And the winner is...
Danny Boyle. He does a fantastic job of making a vivid movie...vivid colors, vivid acting, vivid sound.

Best Actor
Richard Nixon 'The Visitor'
Frank Langella 'Frost/Nixon'
Sean Penn 'Milk'
Brad Pitt 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'
Mickey Rourke 'The Wrestler'
And the winner is...
Mickey Rourke. I just want to see him thank his dogs again! :)

Best Actress
Anne Hathaway 'Rachel Getting Married'
Angelina Jolie 'The Changeling'
Melissa Leo 'Frozen River'
Meryl Streep 'The Reader'
Kate Winslet 'Revolutionary Road'
And the winner is...
Kate Winslet. She is such an amazing actress that I am really rooting for her to finally get some gold.

Best Supporting Actor
Josh Brolin 'Milk'
Robert Downey Jr. 'Tropic Thunder'
Philip Seymour Hoffman 'Doubt'
Heath Ledger 'The Dark Knight'
Michael Shannon 'Revolutionary Road'
And the winner is...
Heath Ledger, hands down. He was fantastic and he was taken too young. A combination sure to earn him a nod form the Academy.

Best Supporting Actress
Amy Adams 'Doubt'
Penelope Cruz 'Vicky Christina Barcelona'
Viola Davis 'Doubt'
Taraji P. Henson 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'
Marisa Tomei 'The Wrestler'
And the winner is...
I'm still on the fence with this one. I really like Marisa and her portrayal of a stripper with a heart of gold was great but I have to give it to Taraji P. Henson. She was fantastic in Ben Button and you loved her from the moment she spotted a baby on her doorstep.

Best Song
"Down to Earth" Wall-E
"O Saya" Slumdog Millionaire
"Jai Ho" Slumdog Millionaire
And the winner is...
I think that it'll go to Slumdog but I'm holding out for Wall-E!

Best Original Score
'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'
'Defiance'
'Milk'
'Slumdog Millionaire'
'Wall-E'
And the winner is...
It's between Ben Button and Wall-E for me and I would be happy with both. If I had to pick one it would be Ben Button.

And now, for my favorite category of the night!

Best Animated Feature
'Bolt'
'Kung-fu Panda'
'Wall-E'
And the winner is...
Is it really a contest? Sorry, Wall-E is number 1 in my book!

Have fun watching tonight, guys. I know I will - popcorn and all!
