What a day! It was mostly my idea to go watch the Tour of California today but despite Mr. WaterBaby's initial resistance I think we both had a blast! It was fun to see all the big names blow past us at high speeds. We ended up snagging a primo spot on the route...on the corner turn where 9th and L st meet. It was a pretty amazing opportunity because unlike most stages (where the peloton goes by in a split second) the racers started 30 to 60 seconds apart and we saw riders race past us for almost 2 straight hours. Not only did we see Lance, but we saw George Hincapie, Levi Leipheimer, Fabian Cancellara, Mark Cavendish, Carlos Sastre, Floyd Landis (3 weeks out of his 3 year suspension) and Ivan Basso (also just released from suspension). It was pretty cool to be thisclose to former and defending Tour de France and stage winners from where we were watching!
We had the most am amazing time...maybe I can talk the mister into going tomorrow too!
By the way, it was Fabian Cancellara who won the prologue...in case you were wondering. :)
